Who started YourShare?

YourShare was founded in 2006 by Paul Brady, a highly-qualified accountant.

Paul realised he was losing a significant share of his investment income through the trailing fees and commissions paid to anonymous agents, brokers, intermediaries and financial planners. He discovered there are many hidden costs, fees and commissions the average investor pays but never really understands.

He realised that while the ongoing fees and commissions are supposed to be paid to financial advisers, there are now many informed investors who make their own financial decisions and receive no benefit from ongoing advisory services.

He also realised many Australians take out a financial product directly (with the provider) or via an intermediary and never meet or receive advice from them again. Yet they continue to pay the trailing fees and commissions to them each year for the life of the product—sometimes for 30 years and more.
